The Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority(ZICTA) has issued GOtv Zambia limited with a notification of award for a network license of a private signal distributor which authorizes the company to install and operate a digital terrestrial television distribution network.

GOtv has pledged to invest 95 million United States dollars in 5 years and a total of 241 million United States dollars in 15 years in addition to the already existing portfolio of 21 million United States dollars that the company already has.

ZICTA Corporate Communications manager, Ngabo Nankonde in a statement says the decision to issue the notification of award of the license to GOtv Zambia follows the process of technical and financial evaluation.

Ms Nankonde explains that the license will be issued under the national market segment with associated resources.

She says the company plans to deploy cost effective DTT network with a transmission system based on satellite technology.

Ms Nankonde says it is therefore expected that GOtv Zambia Limited will provide an overall system availability of more than 99.50 percent.
