The opposition UPND Youths in Lusaka have charged that President Edgar Lungu missed a golden opportunity in parliament last Friday to highlight how his administration intends to deal with the unemployment crisis in the country.

UPND Lusaka Province Youth Spokesperson Otis Bwalya tells Q News in a statement that the Zambian youths were expecting the Head of State to spend some reasonable amount of time to address the issues of unemployment & lack of empowerment & skills training among the young people.

Mr. Bwalya says surprisingly enough,  the Head of State only spent less than two minutes on this important matter to do with empowering youths, by simply informing the August house that his government had established 11 Community Skills Training Centers located in 8 provinces.

He laments that further, President Lungu indicated to the parliamentarians and the nation that out of these 11 centers only about 184 youths have been trained in skills saying this is not inspiring.

Mr. Bwalya says the youths had high hopes that the head of state would seriously show political will & seriously tackle the challenges that they are going through as young people & the country as a whole.
