Youths advised against using ICT to promote detrimental activities

The Zambian Youth Platform (ZYP) has advised youths across the country to use ICT to promote entrepreneurship and national unit and desist from using it to advance retrogressive and detrimental activities such as rumor mongering, lies, maligning, and insults or hate speech.

ZYP board Chairperson Mwilima Lutanga says given the fact that the youth are the drivers of ICT, if well utilized they can turn around their own economic status and bring about improved livelihood which in turn would contribute to national development.

Lutanga says the reaction of the importance of ICT through this year’s theme should transcend beyond lip service but result into actionable steps to ensure that the youths realize the unique opportunities which come with ICT.

He has noted the need for there being appropriate programs to ensure that even the rural youth are reached failure to which there shall be created a serious ICT gap which will adversely affect uniform national growth.
