Chief Madzimawe backs House of Chiefs for rejecting land policy

Senior Chief Madzimawe of the Ng’oni speaking people of Eastern Province says he supports the decision by the House of Chiefs to reject the land policy document.

Senior Chief Madzimawe has told QTV News that when he was in the House of Chiefs, that same document was taken to the House and that the chiefs’ representatives at that time rejected the contents of the policy.

He wonders why the government has once again taken it to the House despite the fact that it was once rejected by the traditional leadership.

He is of the view that the contents of the land policy are foreign saying they were probably copied from a country that has not chiefs as it takes away the plight of the traditional leadership.

Senior Chief Madzimawe states that it is in this vein that he supports the stance taken by the current House of Chiefs to reject the document as it is not in the best interest of the chiefs.
