Political Scientist Dr. Alex Ng’oma has called on both President Edgar Lungu and opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to take a leaf from Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga for their bold decision to reconcile.

Kenya’s president and opposition leader have promised to begin a process of reconciliation following last year’s bitterly contested election.

Mr. Kenyatta and Mr. Odinga called each other “brothers” during a surprise joint TV address.

Dr. Ng’oma has told QTV News via telephone that Kenya just had elections last year and yet the two leaders have put their country first by starting the reconciliation process.

He says it is worrying that Zambia had elections in 2016 and yet the two main leaders are still antagonist and not showing commitment to reconcile.

Dr. Ng’oma says elections are not there to divide the people.
