Kafue Member of Parliament Miriam Chonya says Kafue residents are facing a serious hunger situation following the chaotic implementation of the e-voucher system as well as the dry spells that were recently experienced in some parts of the country.

Ms Chonya says despite Kafue being an industrial zone, it is also an agricultural zone and that most people depend on farming activities for survival.

The Kafue lawmaker has also called on the government to consider working on economical roads in Kafue district.

Speaking during the weekly UPND MPs briefing in Lusaka, Ms Chonya says the state of the roads in the district is very pathetic posing a challenge to road users.

Ms. Chonya says because of the bad state of the roads in Kafue, the bus fares have been hiked from K10 to K30 and K40.

She says for a district that was declared as an economic so they expect government to do something about the roads.

Ms Chonya adds  that government should honor the ten kilo meters of the road in Kafue district to ensure that resident of Kafue can also be happy.
