Mwaanga questions credibility of printing ballot papers locally

Dr.-Vernon-MwaangaVeteran Politician Vernon Mwaanga has questioned the credibility of printing ballot papers locally considering the lack of confidence by stakeholders in the electoral process.

Mr. Mwanga tells Q-news that the skepticism on the printing of ballot papers locally has been due to lack of confidence in Zambia’s electoral system by various stakeholders.

He says it’s not an issue of the capacity of the Government printers to carry out the job, but the confidence of political players in the electoral process.

Mr. Mwaanga adds that it was wrong for government which is a single stakeholder in the process to come up with a unilateral decision that ballots will be printed locally without wide consultation from other stakeholders.

He states that it’s not too late for government to use the timeframe left before the 2021 elections engage other stakeholders.
