The Madzimawe Foundation anti gender based violence office has recorded 92 cases of gender based violence in the first quarter of 2018.

And the GBV office recorded a total of 300 gender based violence cases in the year 2017.

Senior Chief Madzimawe of the Ngoni speaking people explained that of the 92 cases recorded,32 are emotional cases, 21 child marriage cases,2 economic, 3 sexual,19 physical and 1 family negligence case.

Chief Madzimawe has further explained that 78 of the cases were addressed and disposed by the office while 14 were referred to the victims support unit, the local and traditional courts, while others were referred to the one stop centre and others to the police.

The traditional leader has attributed the increase in the number of cases recorded in the first quarter of this year to interventions being put in place by the office to encourage more people to come out and report cases of all forms of gender based violence.
