Ten companies interested to set up solid waste generating plants

Energy Minister Mathew Nkhuwa has disclosed that about 10 companies have shown interest to set up energy generating plants using solid waste in the country.

Mr. Nkhuwa has told the parliament that this will result in the generation of 1, 851 megawatts of power from the proposals received so far.

He was responding to a question from Luangeni Member of Parliament Charles Zulu who wanted to know whether there are any companies that have shown interest in setting up energy generating plants using solid waste.

Mr. Nkhuwa says among the companies include, Afro Renewable Zambia, Horizon, Waste Renewable Energy, Afro Ventures Energy among others.
