The ruling Patriotic Front says Liberal parties, including the United Party for National Development (UPND), met in Ghana to adopt a common constitution that will support and promote gay rights in Africa.

PF Media Director Sunday Chanda says the UPND delegation included their Chairman for international relations Mulondwe Muzungu and Party spokesperson Charles Kakoma.

UPND, with its partners appended their signatures to adopt the rights of homosexuals, which includes lesbians, gay, bisexual, non-binary and intersex relations whom they classified as marginalized.

Mr Chanda says the same gathering was used to discredit Zambia’s image and that of the Patriotic Front Government as covered in some sections of the media.

But UPND Spokesperson Charles Kakoma has denied that the meeting discussed rights of lesbians, gays, and bisexual, non-binary and intersex relations.

He says these issues were not part of the agenda.

Mr. Kakoma says this kind of propaganda by the PF is laughable saying the UPND does not champion for such issues.

He explains that part of the agenda was to look at political situations in some parts of the continent including Zambia and Somalia.
