A 27-year-old man of Lusaka’s John Leigh is nursing serious burns in the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) after the pit latrine he was using to answer the call of nature collapsed.
UTH Public Relations Officer Natalie Mashikolo has told QTV News that Kingsley Mwape fell into the pit latrine after it collapsed.
Ms Mashikolo says the incident happened two days when the victim went to answer the call of nature around 02:00 hours.
She says the man was brought in a very bad condition and was immediately rushed to the theatre where he was worked on and is now recovering.
Ms Mashikolo has since advised people with no proper bathing facilities to avoid using pit latrines as bathrooms saying they become weak and end up collapsing.
