Government has maintained that the Natural Resources Development College (NRDC) has not been sold.

Agriculture Minister Michael Katambo has told Parliament in a ministerial statement yesterday that government hs only signed a memorandum of understanding with AVIC International for the development of a new NRDC in Shibuyunji district.

He says the intention by government to move the college to the Shibuyunji is driven by the increase in the student numbers and the dilapidated infrastructure at the college.

Mr Katambo says the current campus has over 2,024 students and that the number if projected to grow to about 4,000 by the year 2019, therefore need for a new and bigger institution.

He adds that the current campus which was built to carter for 300 students cannot be expanded as it sits on land that is surrounded by residential areas and other infrastructure.

Mr Katambo has emphasized that the MOU signed with AVIC is just an expression of intent which is subject to change.
