The Foundation For Democratic Process (FODEP) has as urged all political parties to submit their financial statements of their accounts to the registrar of societies.

This follows after Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo gave organizations such as political parties, churches and Civil Society organizations an amnesty to settle outstanding annual returns or Facede-registration.

The amnesty, which runs through April 30, is meant to help them settle their arrears or face de-registration.

FODEP Executive Director Mweenge Chimfwembe feels that political parties equally have not been paying their annual returns.

Mr. Chimfwembe has told q-news that the rule of law demands that all should be treated equally thus it is important that all political parties should ensure that they submit their annual returns.

Meanwhile Mr. Chimfwembe has welcomed the decision by the ministry of home affairs to deregister political parties, churches and other societies which will fail to submit their annual returns saying it is law and all should abide.
