UPND, PF Cadres clash in Sinda

HHUnited party for national development (UPND) and patriotic front (PF) cadres have clashed in Sinda district in eastern province leaving a two UPND carders injured.

During the clash, UPND supporters identified as Tobias Banda aged 46 and Patricia Banda aged 50 have sustained injuries and have been issued with medical report forms.

Police spokesperson Esther Katongo has dispelled reports that one person was shot in Sinda district of eastern province.

Ms. Katongo explains that the correct position is that while some UPND supporters from Sinda were getting ready to proceed to Chipata for their party card renewal programme, some PF supporters who were coming from Petauke for their party activity in Sinda spotted them, and disembarked from their motor vehicle and started throwing stones at them.

She says police officers rushed to the scene and managed to calm the situation.

Ms. Katongo has since called upon all political parties to promote peace and avoid bringing about instability as they go about their party activities.

Meanwhile the Zambia police intellectual property unit on Thursday, 15th February, 2018 seized two bales and 560 rolls of suspected counterfeit knitting yarn cotton from kukive enterprise located in Lusaka’s light industrial area along Nampundwe road.

This was after they received a complaint from spinning enterprise limited who is the rightful holder of Mwanacryl brand which is legally registered.

Police are yet to locate the suspect who is a Burundi national identified as Ackzimana petti who was reported to be out of town at the time of the operation.
