President Edgar Lungu has congratulated Cyril Ramaphosa on his election as President of South Africa on Thursday,15th February,2018.

In his congratulatory message, President Lungu says he’s confident that President Ramaphosa will guide the country on a new path towards increased social and economic prosperity as South Africa enters a new era.

He says he looks forward to working with Mr Ramaphosa to expand bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of the two peoples and the African continent as a whole.

President Lungu has since wished the new South African president a good health as well as success in discharging the functions of his office.

Meanwhile President Lungu has sent a message of condolences to Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the death of that country’s former Prime Minister and leader of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Morgan Tsvangirai, who passed away on 14th February,2018.

The President says he received the unfortunate demise of Mr Tsvangirai with a heavy heart.

He says Mr Tsvangirai will forever be remembered for his courage,humility and patriotic spirit, as well as his significant contribution to the democratic process in Zimbabwe.

And President Lungu has sent a message of condolences to Queen Margarethe II of the kingdom of Denmark on the death of Prince Henrik, who passed away on 13th February,2018.

He says Zambia commiserates with Denmark I spirit,prayerfully reflecting, and beseeching the Almighty God to grant the bereaved family and the entire kingdom, solace and fortitude to bear this great loss.
