National Guidance and Religious Affairs Minister Godfridah Sumaili

National Guidance and Religious Affairs Minister Godfridah Sumaili has called for a mindset and fundamental shift in the implementation of the 7th National Development Plan which is anchored on an integrated multi-sectorial approach.

Speaking when she officiated at the launch of the a Policy Monitoring and Research Centre (PMRC) publication titled “The importance of Mindset Shift in the implementation of the Seventh National Development Plan”, Reverend Sumaili notes that the 7NDP talks about the need for attitude and behavioral change tailored towards transforming the national development pathways.

She says in order to achieve this; there is need for a paradigm shift that focuses on addressing negative cultural attributes while enhancing the positive traits.

She has noted that the mindset change can only come about when national values and principles as espoused in the constitution are promoted and internalized.

Reverend Sumaili has since revealed that her ministry is in talk with the Ministry of national development planning to work together in developing a programme on mindset change management through the application of the National Values and Principles.

She has commended Policy Monitoring and Research Centre (PMRC) for supplementing government efforts by coming up with the publication titled.

Speaking at the same event, PMRC Executive Director Bernadette Deka noted the need for a mindset education programme to be established and implemented towards the successful implementation of the Seventh National Development Plan as well as other policies being put in place.
