The ministry of health has recorded 16 new cholera cases in the last 24 hours.
And a total number of 3,573 cases have been successfully treated since the outbreak of the pandemic on october 6th 2017.
Health minister dr. Chitalu chilufya says the drop in the number of new cases is a clear indication that the ministry is recording significance progress in the fight against the epidemic through intensified health promotions, contact tracing and highly efficacious clinical care practices.
The minister says despite the progress in the fight against the epidemic, his ministry will not stop inspecting both public and trading places.
Meanwhile dr. Chilufya has announced that the second oral cholera vaccine will commence on february 5th 2018, starting with kanyama and chawama.
The minister has since advised kanyama and chawama residents to report the designated cholera vaccination points.
