Extend audit all Local Authorities, PAC recommends

Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairperson Howard Kunda has implored government to operationalize the State Audit Commission Act of 2016 and the Public Audit Act of 2016.

Speaking in Lusaka during the launch of the 2017-2021 strategic plan for the office of the Auditor General, Mr. Kunda has also noted the need for government to create an Audit Division to audit all Local Authorities in the country.

He has also implored the Office of the Auditor General to always uphold the core values of integrity, professionalism, objectivity, team work, confidentially, excellence, innovation and respect in providing Audit services.

Mr. Kunda has urged government to continue supporting the office of the Auditor General in improving its capacity to provide its oversight role in the management of public resources.

He states that by strengthening the office of the Auditor General, government will improve public financial management in the country.

Speaking earlier, Auditor General Ron Mwambwa says the strategic plan which sets out his office’s strategic imperatives over the next five years has been developed in alignment with the goals of the Seventh National Development Plan.
