Milupi urges farmers to reject FRA maize price

Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) president Charles Milupi has called on farmers to reject the K60 maize price announced by the Food Reserve Agency (FRA).

Mr Milupi says the price is too low considering the high cost of production. MILUPI 1

He says farmers will not realise any profit from price being offered by the FRA taking into consideration the high cost of fertilizer and seed.

Mr. Milupi states that some farmers had to buy expensive fertilizer from shops because of the challenges the government sponsored Farmers Input and Support Programme encountered during the 2017-2018 farming season.

He says these are some of the factor the Food Reserve Agency and other stakeholders could have considered in coming up with the maize price.

Mr. Milupi has accused government of trying to killing the agriculture sector by imposing low market prices that are there to disadvantage farmers.
