Lusaka man shoots dead wife,lover

Esther katongo ZPPolice in Lusaka have arrested a 33-year-old man for shooting dead his wife and lover in front of his children last evening.

In a statement, Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo says Peter Siwale, a clearing agent of Nakonde in Muchinga Province also of Lusaka’s Meanwood Phase 2 allegedly shot dead his wife identified as Charity Namuko aged 30 together with the man she was with Andrew Chibesa aged 27, whom he suspected to have been having an affair with his wife.

Ms Katongo says the incident happened in Meanwood last evening between 18:00 and 19:00 hours.

She says the suspect trailed the victims who are both teachers at a named school in Kaunda Square to some place in Meanwood using a friend’s motor vehicle where he saw them in a romantic state.

Ms Katongo says he then picked the two who he took to his home where he is alleged to have shot both of them dead in the presence of his children.

She states that the man later took his kids to a neighbor’s house and asked them to take him to the police.

Ms Katongo says his wife sustained a wound on the right shoulder and right side of the chest, while the other victim sustained a wound on the left side of the chest.

She says police recovered a pump action shotgun from the scene with three empty cartridges.

The suspect is detained in Police custody while the bodies of the deceased are in UTH mortuary awaiting postmortem.
