DEC arrest Lusaka couple for drug trafficking

The Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested a Lusaka based couple for trafficking in narcotic and psychotropic substances.

Commission Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo says Marvin Fungai Kamambo, 31, of Lilayi area in Lusaka has been arrested and jointly charged with his wife Twambo Chona, 25, of the same abode for trafficking in cocaine, heroin and cannabis. KATONGO DEC

Ms Katongo says also seized from the couple is one unregistered Vox Wagon vehicle, two flat television sets, two upright double door fridges, one upright single door fridge and one deep freezer.

And in a related development, the Commission has arrested Cleophas Mateo Nyirenda, 36, of Lukanga Township in Kabwe for trafficking in cocaine, heroin, ephedrine and cannabis.

Ms Katongo says the suspect was apprehended from Lusaka’s Intercity Bus Terminus.

Meanwhile, the Commission in other parts of the country has arrested over thirty (30) people for trafficking in cannabis.

Those arrested include Gift Mandevu, 33, a businessman of Muchimata area in Kaoma District for trafficking in 18. 9kg of cannabis, Njamba Kalengo, 60, a small scale farmer of Lisole area in Kaoma District for trafficking in 15.6kg of cannabis and Joseph Kunda, 43, a small scale farmer of Mumba village in Chitambo District for trafficking in 14.2kg of cannabis.

Also arrested is Benson Nsofwa, 50, a small scale farmer of Boyson Mark Village in Chitambo District for trafficking in 11.8kg of cannabis and Rodrick Kapala, 45, a charcoal burner of M8 area in Kabompo District for trafficking in 8kg of cannabis.
