The United Party for National Development (UPND) youths have welcomed the efforts by the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) aimed at initiating dialogue between their leader Hakainde Hichilema and President Edgar Lungu.

UPND national spokesperson Gilbert Liswaniso tells Q-News that the negotiations are important and progressive, considering that UPND youths in the party have been perpetual victims of political violence.

Mr Liswaniso says the party has also had a fair share of hate speech and blame games caused by lack of dialogue between the two leaders.

He has since appealed to the ZCCB to expedite the dialogue negotiations so that political sanity may return to the country.

Mr Liswaniso has thanked the ZCCB for taking it upon itself to foster peace and oneness in the country, so that the country may move forward.

He states that dialogue is necessary for the greater good of the nation.
