Zesco United recovered from their recent defeat by Forest Rangers thanks to a first-half brace by John Ching’andu and a penalty by Jesse Were as they recorded a 3-2 victory over Green Eagles on Matchday 18 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Sunday.

Ching’andu gave the hosts an early lead as he opened the scoring on two minutes and the advantage was doubled 20 minutes later after Were converted a penalty following a handball inside the box by Spencer Sautu.

Ching’andu completed his brace on the half hour mark to give Zlatko Krmpotic’s men a comfortable lead but Mwila Phiri pulled a goal back in the 38th minute.

Phiri completed his brace in the 60th minute as the visitors launched a possible comeback, which was never to be as Zesco United held on to their advantage until the final whistle.

The victory helped the Ndola based outfit to move to 26 points from 14 matches, with four games in hand.

And Nkana returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Mufulira Wanderers thanks to goals by Shadreck Musonda who scored a fifth-minute penalty and Simon Bwalya who netted in the 54th minute.

Ghanaian forward Rahim Osman was on target for the sixth time this season, equalling his tally from last season, as he scored a late consolation for the visitors.

Meanwhile, returning forward Alex Ng’onga scored his second goal in three matches as Power Dynamos edged Real Nakonde 1-0 in Nakonde.

Lumwana Radiants were also back to winning ways as they defeated 10-man Nkwazi thanks to a lone goal by Hosea Silwimba.

The ex-Konkola Blades man netted in the 19th minute to take his tally to three in the current campaign.

Nkwazi were reduced to ten men after Noel Nyireda was given a second yellow card in the second half.

There were six matches which ended in stalemates in this round of which two were scoring draws while four were goalless.

Nchanga Rangers had to come from behind to salvage a point in a 2-2 draw at home to Konkola Blades.

Nchanga Rangers were without their striker Zikiru Adams, who missed the match due to suspension, but they managed to take the lead through skipper Bwalya Kasonde before being pegged back by goals from John Sikaumbwe and Tapson Kaseba.

Terry Mwanshi equalised at the death for the hosts.

At Woodlands Stadium, 10-man City of Lusaka, who had their captain Jackson Musonda sent off in the 33rd minute, came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Forest Rangers.

Logic Ching’andu gave the visitors a 38th minute lead but his goal was cancelled by second-half substitute Ghanaian Francis Effinan with four minutes remaining on the clock.
