FODEP guides PF on convention

MWEENGEThe Foundation For Democratic Process (FODEP) has advised the ruling Patriotic Front to allow the party’s presidency and other positions to be contested ahead of the 2021 elections.

FODEP Executive Director Mweenge Chimfwembe says the ruling party should follow its constitution and go for a general conference to elect its presidential candidate.

Mr. Chimfwembe says the decision by the PF Central Committee to adopt President Edgar Lungu as THE candidate for 2021 has a negative impact on the political scene, hence the need for the ruling party to set a good example.

Meanwhile Mr. Chimfwembe has advised the Patriotic Front to encourage intraparty competition than threaten party members with diverged views.
