Former President Dr Kenneth Kaunda remains admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).

Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya has told Journalists yesterday that the former president will be discharged today.

But Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda in a statement says Dr Kaunda’s minders reported that the former President appeared weak prompting Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya to deploy a specialist medical unit to check on him at his resident.

Mr Chanda says Dr Kaunda who was treated for a minor ailment was rehydrated and judged well and stable enough to be discharged.

Mr Chanda however, says the former president has been kept in hospital longer than necessary to take advantage of this admission and make him undergo a routine medical screen after which he is expected to be discharged later today or tomorrow.
