Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Kampamba Mulenga says Cabinet has approved a film policy which will help promote Arts and job creation for young people.

Ms. Mulenga says her ministry is also scheduled to establish training institutions in some parts of the country to promote arts especially with the transition of the country from analogue to digital broadcasting.

She states that the developments are a culmination of government’s thorough discussions with various stakeholders at various levels on the need to develop the country’s film industry guided by the film policy.

She says her ministry has since extended an olive branch to the film industry players to play their role in ensuring that the dream to achieve a thriving film industry is achieved.

Ms Mulenga her ministry welcomes and applauds the efforts of film makers in the country especially those working under difficult conditions.

The Minister says as the country rolls out the digital terrestrial broadcasting network, there will be a multiplicity of channels, hence the need for more content generation by the players.
