The Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has advised government to consider coming up with a truth and reconciliation commission before the 2021 General Elections.
SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says a lot of people have been affected by the levels of political tension in the country.
Mr. Cheembe says it is time to start proper healing as a country and reconcile for good.
And Mr. Cheembe has welcomed the incarcerated opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema’s call for unconditional dialogue.
He has told q-news says now that the opposition leader says he is willing to dialogue without conditions there is need for political parties in the country to reconcile for the common good.
And in another development, the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has praised President Edgar Lungu for exhibiting good leadership by accommodating the Catholic Bishops in finding solutions to many national matters.
YALI Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza says that was the first step towards initiating the much talked about political dialogue.
Mr. Mwanza says leaders must embrace dialogue as this is instrumental in addressing national matters.
He says the Catholic Bishops must strive to persuade UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema to agree to dialogue with other political leaders.
Mr. Mwanza says there is no doubt that the nation needs healing.
