Govt to make presentation to IMF

Finance Minister Felix Mutati says government will make its presentation to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) board on the bailout package next month.

Government is seeking a US$1.3 billion bailout package for the Economic Stabilisation and Growth Programme (ESGP) dubbed Zambia Plus.

Mr. Mutati says substantial progress has been made in the engagement with the IMF and that convergence on most of the issues has been achieved.

He has stated that government is on course with this deal and is confident that it will pull through.

Mr. Mutati adds that the decision to engage the IMF is a Cabinet decision which will be followed to its logical conclusion.
