Charge D’Affaires and First Secretary welcome the First Lady Of Zambia in USA

First Lady Esther Lungu has arrived  in Minnesota of the United States of America where she is scheduled to receive a humanitarian award at this year’s Starkey Hearing Foundation “17th Annual So the World May Hear Award”.

The First Lady who arrived around midnight local time at Minneapolis St. Paul’s Airport aboard Alaska airline was received by Zambia’s Charge’ D’ Affaires in Washington D.C. Joseph Chilaizya and officials from the Starkey Hearing Foundation.

Mrs. Lungu who is also patron of the Esther Lungu Foundation has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Starkey Hearing Foundation to work together in serving people with hearing impairments in Zambia.

At the 17th Annual awards Gala, the First Lady will be awarded as the 2017 Humanitarian Honoree joining other prominent personalities such as actor, writer and founder of the Eastern Congo Initiative Ben Affleck, The Wilf Family Foundations, FedEx and Scott Borchetta and Sandi Spike Borchetta of Big Machine Records.

Mrs. Lungu joins other notables like former British Prime minister Tony Blair, former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and other notables to receive the award since its introduction in 2000.

The First Lady while in Minneapolis is scheduled to feature at the Starkey Annual Founders Club for a panel discussion under the theme “passion plus purpose equals impact”.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Barbara Bush, daughter of former U.S. President George Bush.

The First Lady will on Sunday at a Gala Night dinner awarded as Humanitarian Honoree where she will deliver her acceptance speech.

Former U.S. President and First Lady Bill and Hillary Clinton are also expected to attend the event.

Zambia is one of the 52 countries that are benefiting from the good works of the Starkey Hearing Foundation.
