Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has warned Police officers across the country not to abuse the sweeping powers they have been given following the invocation of Article 31 of the Constitution.

And the Police Chief has assured the business community and the people of Zambia the police will be there to protect then and their property, hence they should go about with their normal lives and business.

He has also assured President Edgar Lungu who is also Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the nation as a whole that the Police are equal to the task at hand and have resolved to see to it that people trying to create anarchy in the country are brought to book.

Mr. Kanganja has urged Police officers to work without fear or favour during the 90 days period and be on alert following the spate of criminal activities where some individuals have torched government infrastructure thereby causing anarchy in the country.

The Police Chief said this at Lilayi Police Training College today when he addressed Police officers undergoing an Extensive Training on Traffic matters.
