Al Ahly will welcome Coton Sport in a 2017 CAF Champions League, Group D match at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 9:00pm.

The Red Devils, who are record eight-time Champions League winners, are heading into game in need of a win in order to book their place in quarterfinals.

This is after Zambian side Zanaco held Al Ahly to a goalless stalemate in their previous group match which was played in Lusaka last weekend.

As a result, the Egyptian giants are placed third on the Group D standings with eight points. They are three points behind group leaders Zanaco.

Al Ahly coach Hossam El Badry, who won this competition with the club in 2012, is confident that his charges will beat Coton Sport and reach the knockout stages.

“I am confident that we will qualify to the next round,” El Badry said.

“Wydad will play against Zanaco and we have a difficult match to win against Coton Sport in Egypt.

“My players will be up for the occasion and aim for the win.”

Meanwhile, Coton Sport will be playing for pride in the last group match as they have already been eliminated from this year’s tournament.

The Cottoners suffered a 2-0 defeat to Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in their previous group match which was played in Garoua last weekend.

This was their fifth consecutive defeat in the competition and they are placed at the bottom of Group D standings without a single point.

Coton Sport have had a disappointing group stage campaign – recording five defeats. They have scored one goal and conceded nine goals.

The 2008 Champions League runners-up will be looking to stun a much fancied Al Ahly side and end their the campaign on a winning note.
