Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan looks set for a return to Europe after landing in Turkey for contract talks with top flight side Kayserispor.

The striker and his representatives checked into the Sheraton Hotel in Istanbul on Wednesday morning ahead of a meeting with Kayserispor club President Erol Bedir.

“Gyan left for Turkey yesterday and has already landed. He is scheduled to meet the club president today so once the offer is good, he will sign,” a close source to the player confirmed on Wednesday morning.

Supersport.com can confirm that Gyan, 31, held phone talks with the Super Lig side’s boss where he indicated his readiness to sign for the club on favourable terms.

Kayserispor are reportedly offering Gyan a two-year deal with an option to renew for one year.

The record Ghana scorer’s first career move outside the shores of his country was to Italy’s Udinese in 2003. He enjoyed stints with Modena (loan), Rennes and Sunderland before embarking on a big-money deal to the Gulf when he signed for UAE’s Al Ain.

In 2015, Gyan continued his journey around the globe to Asia in a two-year deal with China’s Shanghai SIPG. His first season was marred by back-to-back injuries, a situation which forced him to seek a return to Dubai on loan at Al Ahli. He is currently a free agent.
