The Zambia Police Service is offering a reward of 300 thousand kwacha to any person with information that will lead to the apprehension and successful prosecution of criminals vandalizing Zesco pylons in the country.

Police Public Relations officer Esther Katongo says the service has increased the reward to 300 thousand kwacha from the earlier 100 thousand kwacha announced by the Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja yesterday.

Mr. Kanganja said in a statement yesterday that the police have intelligence information that some criminals are planning to deliberately cause havoc by destroying vital installations which includes bridges, power stations, transmission lines government buildings, communication facilities among others.

The police service is calling on members of the public to be alert and report to any nearest police station any information that may lead to the apprehension of the criminals behind the illegal acts.

Meanwhile police have apprehended a second suspect in the assault case in a video that was trending on social media involving a 24 year old woman of Makeni villa which happened on 18th June 2017.

Ms Katongo has disclosed that the suspect has been identified as Miriam Banda aged 18 also of Makeni Villa and has been charged with assault.
