The Zambia Council for Social Development (ZCSD) says the removal of the 10 percent tax on maize exports should be approached with caution.

ZCSD Executive Director Lewis Mwape says there is need for caution by first ensuring that the country is food secure.

Mr Mwape says the national food reserves should be enough so that Zambians are not deprived of their own commodity.

And Mr. Mwape has noted the need to establish industries to facilitate value addition to maize.

He notes that Maize has so many by-products, and if well harnessed may be a good resource for the country.
