PF, UPND clash at Memorial Park

Patriotic Front and UPND cadres today clashed at Lusaka’s Memorial Park leaving several mourners scampering in different directions for safety.

Some mourners are nursing serious injuries at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) after the two warring parties clashed while burying their members.

Family members and mourners briefly abandoned the bodies of their relatives for their safety as the PF and UPND viciously attacked each other.

Information reaching QTV News indicate that eighty mourners are currently battling for their lives in UTH as one is reported to be unconscious.

The UPND were burying UPND blogger and activist Clance Zulu while the ruling party was putting to rest Amos Chilufya, the husband to PF Chairlady for New Soweto Market.

And Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has told QTV News that there was confusion at the Memorial Park after these two groups clashed that resulted in mourners abandoning bodies they had gone to put to rest.

Ms Katongo says the bus that was hired by the PF supporters was burnt in the process by UPND cadres.

She says the police immediately deployed police officers to restore sanity at the grave yard to allow people bury their relatives in a peaceful and dignified manner.

She adds that the Police received four cases of Assault which occurred today around 13:00 hours at memorial park in a confusion between UPND and PF cadres.

Ms Katongo has named the victims as Hambote Christopher of Chalala, Arnold Spatula of unknown residence, Mulungu Jones of Salama Park and Samoa Davies of Chalala.

She says all victims sustained head injuries and have since been issued with medical reports.
