NRFA to collect K20M monthly from 4 new toll gates

The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) has projected a monthly revenue collection of K20 million from four more newly installed toll Plazas in Katuba, Shimabala, Mumbwa and Chongwe .

Road Tolling at Katuba, Shimabala, Mumbwa is expected to commence this month.

NRFA Public Relations Manager Alphonsius Hamachila has disclosed that Avic International, the contractor engaged to construct the conventional Toll Plazas at a cost of US9.8 million had installed the canopies, booths and booms at the three sites.

Mr. Hamachila has told QTV News that the requisite Tolling systems in readiness for commissioning.

ALPHONSIUS HAMACHILAMr. Hamachila says the new Toll Plazas had been installed with Automatic number plate recognition devices, Toll Price electronic displays and enhanced security monitoring features.

He says this includes a picture recording for each transaction for transparency and accountability.

Mr. Hamachila notes that the Katuba Toll Plaza, which is 30 kilometres from Lusaka, on the Lusaka Kabwe Road had the highest traffic volume of 9000 vehicles per day.

He says the projected monthly revenue at Katuba is K10, 800, 000 while the Shimabala Toll Plaza, situated 25 kilometres from Lusaka, on the Lusaka Kafue Road which has a daily traffic volume of 5000 has a projected monthly collections of K6,000,000.

Mr. Hamachila adds that the Mumbwa Toll Plaza has an estimated revenue collection of K840, 000 while the Chongwe Toll Plaza has estimated monthly revenue collection of K2, 400,000.
