Give UPND alternate rally date, SACCORD advises Police

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has advised the Zambia Police Service to give the opposition United Party For National Development(UPND) an alternative date to hold their cancelled rally in Kanyama.

SACCORD ED 1SACCORD Executive Director, Boniface Cheembe has told QTV that the Police’s decision to deny the UPND the permit to hold their rally is what is bringing confusion because they feel their rights are being denied.

Mr Cheembe says the UPND like any other political party has the right to hold political rallies provided they get the Police permit.

Meanwhile Mr Cheembe has condemned Patriotic Front (PF) Youths over their violent threats against the UPND should they go ahead with their rally.

He says this can only lead to violence between the two parties.
