amos chandaState House says President Edgar Lungu’s has not acted on calls for him to fire his political affairs advisor Kaizer Zulu for allegedly assaulting a female Police officer recently because the matter is still under investigation.

The President’s Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations, Amos Chanda says Police are still investigating the alleged assault case.

Mr. Chanda states that State House cannot therefore comment on a matter that is under investigation.

He has also told Qfm News by telephone that President Lungu cannot takeover investigations into the alleged corruption of Ministers whom he is being asked to fire.

Mr. Chanda states that the fact that President Lungu cannot carryout investigations on his own, it’s imperative for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to be proactive.

He says President Lungu’s view is that government agencies such as the ACC should not only perform prosecution functions, but also remain institutions of integrity.

Mr. Chanda was responding to concerns that President Lungu may be paying lip service to the fight against corruption owing to his reluctance to fire alleged corrupt Ministers in his government
