Funeral of late flight sergeant Mark Chongwa in Lusaka

The Zambia Police Service has concluded its investigations in the murder case of flight sergeant Mark Chongwa a Zambia Air Force (ZAF) officer who was allegedly killed in police cells at Woodlands Police Station.

Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Nephas Chifuta tells QTV News that four inmates alleged to have picked up a quarrel with the deceased whilst in custody have been arrested and charged with murder.

Mr. Chifuta has named the suspect inmates as Joseph Phiri aged 32 of Chalala area in Lusaka who was facing a charge of theft, Kaonga Andrew aged 31, a police Sergeant of Kamfinsa mobile unit charged for criminal trespass, Kalumba Felix aged 40 of house number C294 Mtendere Compound Lusaka charged for motor vehicle theft and Chanda Martin aged 24 of house number 45/11, Chilenje Lusaka facing a charge of assault occasioning Actual Body Harm (OABH).

He says the four accused will appear in court on Monday.

The Police Assistant Public Relations has since warned some media houses and individuals who have continuously issuing unverified and alarming statements on this matter to stop and allow the due process of the law to take its course.
