The ruling Patriotic Front has blamed the opposition UPND for its failure to grow and strengthen the party in Southern Province.

The ruling party feels that the violence that is perpetrated by UPND cadres against PF Members when mobilizing the party has largely contributed to the PF’s failure to grow its party in the province.

PF Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya says PF members in Southern province especially Monze and surrounding areas have suffered attacks perpetrated by known UPND cadres.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Bwalya says the imprisonment of UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema’s violent bodyguards in Monze gives hope that other equally violent UPND cadres in Southern province will learn a lesson and stop attacking its members and innocent citizens.

He says the attack was done with impunity and a kind of notorious conduct left the PF members and would be members intimidated.

Mr. Bwalya says it is no rational for anyone to believe that their attack which was well planned and coordinated could have been done without the knowledge of their President Mr. Hichilema.
He has since commended the police for their professionalism exhibited in the manner they protected him from further attacks when he went to identify the culprits and later when he went to testify in court.

Mr. Bwalya was assaulted by suspected United Party for National Development cadres when he went for an interview at Sky FM during last year’s campaign period.
