The Confederation of Trade Unions in Zambia (COTUZ) has advised government to ask for more time from the African Union on the resolution for African countries to leave the International Criminal Court en mass.

Union President Joe Kamutumwa says this is in view of the consultative process the government through the Ministry of Justice has embarked on with regards Zambia’s ICC membership.

Mr. Kamutumwa is of the view that if Zambia rushes in making a decision over this critical matter, the country may end up regretting.

He says such important matters require the full engagement and involvement of all stakeholders, hence the need to fully engage the Zambian people.

Mr. Kamutumwa says it’s for this reason that government should ask for more time from the AU to allow the Zambian people make a firm decision on the matter.
