Fisheries and Livestock Minister Michael Katambo has indefinitely extended the fishing ban on the Mweru-Luapula fishery following the outbreak of cholera in Nchelenge and Chiengi districts.

The official annual fishing ban came to an end on 1st March, 2017.

Mr Katambo has told Parliament in a ministerial statement that this part of the measures being put in place to control the spread of cholera in Luapula province and the Mweru-Luapula fishery in particularly.

Meanwhile Mr Katambo says the anthrax outbreak in Western province reported in November 2016 which affected humans and cattle in five districts namely Sioma,Nalolo,Limulunga,Kalabo and Shangombo has been contained.
