Zambia secures Tanzania friendlies

The Football Association of Zambia has confirmed that the Zambia men’s senior national football team will play two international friendly matches with Tanzania on March 24 and 26.

Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda has since summoned 20 players, including Zamalek striker Emmanuel Mayuka among several new call-ups.

“Most of the players are locals, the only foreign based players we have added to the list are Kennedy Mweene and Mayuka,” said Nyirenda .

“Mayuka has not been with us for a long time; he is playing well and he has been doing well for Zamalek. We want to see how he can play and fit in with our philosophy.”

“With Mweene I need to see him because he has not been playing most games at Mamelodi Sundowns. He played last weekend and did very well all we need is to see that he is keeping his shape. “

Nyirenda has listed new call-ups Justin Banda, Mwila Phiri, Augustine Mulenga and Mukubanga Siambombe wChipolopolo Zambahile Taonga Bwembya, Mweene Mumbi and John Ching’andu have been promoted from age group national teams.

Other new call-ups are Isaac Shamujompa, Chitiya Mususu and Kelvin Mubanga.

Nyirenda told fazfootball.com that the outing to Dar es Salaam will be used as part of his preparations for the African Nations Championship (Chan) two-legged tie against Swaziland in July with one eye on the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique in June.

The invited players will regroup in Lusaka on Monday, March 20.
