UN Resident Coordinator Janet Rogan says President Edgar Lungu’s focus on national values and principles in his address to Parliament is pleasing.

Ms. Rogan says she is very pleased that President Lungu has encouraged the nation to reflect on what is happening in the communities.

In an interview with Qfm News, Ms. Rogan says she has in the recent times heard of disturbing reports in Zambia of ritual murders, Defilement and Gender Based Violence.

Ms. Rogan adds that she is also pleased that in his address to Parliament President Lungu touched on the issue of national development.

She says without understanding equity and non discrimination as a quality in society, there cannot be good development.

Ms. Rogan notes that to this effect President Lungu put more emphasis in his address on the need to identify areas in the country which are the least developed and take development to such areas first.

She says the UN is in this regard looking forwarding to the Seventh National Development Plan (7NDP) which President Lungu said will focus on achieving this goal.
