President Lungu to address Parliament tomorrow

Vice President Inonge Wina says President Edgar Lungu is tomorrow, Friday expected to address the National Assembly.

Moving a notice of motion in parliament this afternoon, Ms. Wina says in accordance with the amended constitution, the Head of State is required to attend parliament at least twice during its sittings.

Inonge WinaMrs. Wina says the President is expected to inform the House on constitutional values, principles and other equally important matters.

And debating the motion, Nalikwanda Member of Parliament Professor Geoffrey Lungwangwa says he supports the intentions by the Head of State to address the House as a way of respecting what is enshrined in the constitution.

Meanwhile, Katuba Member of Parliament Patricia Mwashingwele says she is expecting the President to inform the nation through the House his commitment towards respecting and protection of women from any harm.

She says what happened at National  Heroes Stadium where one of his special aides harassed a female police officer who was entirely doing her official duties is unacceptable and thus the need for the president to assure the nation that women are protected from such vices.
