‘’Are you rendering credible checks’’, Opposition MPs asked

Opposition Members of Parliament have been challenged to conduct a self assessment on whether or not they are currently rendering credible checks and balances to the Executive.

Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Governance advisor Isaac Mwanza says his organization is concerned that Zambia does not seem to have a voice in Parliament that is able to put government to work.

Mr. Mwanza says much as the opposition does not have the numbers in Parliament, YALI believes that opposition members of parliament have a duty to raise issues of governance and national interest in the house.

He has told QTV News that democracy is about having a voice in Parliament that opposes decisions of the government which are not in the interest of the nation
