Finance Minister Felix Mutati has assured Zambians that the International Monetary Fund will not bring anything different from what government is doing.

Mr. Mutati says government is doing everything possible to ensure the IMF does not bring anything different.

He says there is nothing strange that would be brought by the IMF, hence the need for the Zambian people to stop worrying.

Speaking in Lusaka today during a consultative meeting with the private sector on the economic stabilization and growth programme, Mr. Mutati says it’s government’s responsibility to deal with debt, raise revenue and spend prudently.

And speaking at the same event, Zambia Revenue Authority Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda clarified that there is no hidden tax in the Taxpayer Identification Number (TPIN) for all bank account holders.

Mr. Chanda says no tax will be charged to bank account holders on account of them having a TPIN.

He says the measure will only make it easy for the ZRA to identify individuals and entities that are in receipt of undeclared income such as foreign dividends and interest.
