Government says it is clean in the infamous Zambia-Malawi maize transaction.
Minister in the office of the vice president Sylvia Chalikosa has told parliament in response to a question raised by Choma central member of parliament Cornelius Mweetwa who wanted to know the role the Zambian government played in the Zambia Malawi maize transaction and what measures have been taken against officers involved in the transaction.
Ms. Chalikosa explained that the role of government in the transaction was merely to issue a permit to the Zambia cooperative federation (ZCF) to export the maize.
She says there was no impropriety on the part of Zambian officials in the management of the agreement.
Ms Chalikosa says the findings by the Malawian government against its officials involved in the transaction has nothing to do with Zambia.
She adds that no action has been taken against any officer as this was a purely commercial transaction involving private companies.
