Police in Lusaka have apprehended four suspects who have been behind a spate of burglaries and thefts that had rocked Lusaka’s Chelstone and surrounding areas in the recent past.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo says police carried out an operation in the area following numerous complaints from members of the public, resulting in the arrest of four suspects identified as Twambo Muzyamba aged 26 of Madido in Chelstone, Pearson Shamutete aged 20 of Kamanga Compound, David Njovu aged 20 and Sodius Mwanza, 21 both of Mtendere Compound.

Ms Katongo says Police also recovered various household goods believed to have been stolen.

She has since called upon members of the public who could have had their properties stolen to go to Chelstone Police Station and help identify the recovered items.

Meanwhile, two people have been found dead inside a storeroom at Ever Joy Car wash in Chipata compound in Lusaka.

Ms Katongo says named the two as Isaac Songwe aged 25 and Erick Mulenga aged 30 who found dead today.

She says the deceased who were watching a television set had decided to switch on a generator in a room which had no Air ventilators resulting in them suffocating to death.

Ms Katongo says the bodies of the deceased are lying in the UTH mortuary awaiting postmortem.
