The ruling Patriotic Front has warned longstanding party members against overstretching their right to exercise freedom of expression and opinion on party issues.

PF Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya has particularly advised position holding senior party members to be cautious not to bring the name of the party into disrepute through their utterances.

Mr. Bwalya says any such member that uses their position to make utterances that bring the name of the party into disrepute is liable for disciplinary action.

In an interview with QTV News, Mr. Bwalya says the disciplinary action will range from verbal warning, suspension and expulsion from the party depending on gravity of the case.

Mr. Bwalya, however, says this does not mean the ruling party does not respect members that have suffered for the party since formation.

He notes founding members deserve respect, but do not on the other hand have a right to close the door for other new members who want to join the ruling PF.

Mr. Bwalya states that no member, whether founding or not, is in fact allowed to disrespect any new member by using the reality that they have been in the party the longest.
